ONE DAY CLOSER TO 2009

What a beautiful day in the Tampa Bay area. Its a little cool however, it is sunny and the weather is good enough to training. As I look back on 2008, I have to say it been a very challengeing year. First I took on a new sponsor (PHYSICIANS PAIN RELIEF CREAM) which turned out well. I did a lot of traveling for the sponsor to market thier product and work Ironman races. Most of the travel was proffitable but, some trips weren't so good. So, I revisited my schedule for 2009 and made some adjustments. So, we add Ironman Canada and Lake Placid to our list of places to go for 2009.

END of the YEAR 2008

Hey Everyone,
WHAT A GREAT YEAR!!!!!! We travel at least half the world, New Hampshire to Kona Hi and all parts in between. The best trip was to IDAHO. For me, thats the best landscape. I love the mountains and the forest the best. Not to say, Kona wasn't but I think I worked to much and I really didn't take in what I could. We will do it next year. I have the Kona trip planned. What I will do the first couple of days there. For the rest of the time will be working. Thats why I go to these places. To work. As for the rest of 2008 we went to Panama City Beach and Tempe AZ
for the Ironmans. Both of these races have there own challanges. One is more flat than the other. One the swim is in a lake and the other in the ocean. Ones hotter than the other.
Both great races for the first timers. It shows because there was 1100 in IMFL and over 800 in IMAZ. The events for me where great. I met alot of wonderful people this year from around the world. most had better Ironmans than they thought. 95% of the pros i work with placed in the top TEN. I had 8 people I worked with qualify for KONA 2009. I am very happy about that. Well see you at the races....

IRONMAN WISCONSIN: SEPTEMBER 7, 2008

I have always like Wisconsin as a state but now I have a new love for the Madison area. The community took in the Ironman event with open arms and suck us right in. I arrive in Madison on Tuesday before the race and the weather was hot. The next days (holy cow) the weather made a 360 and it was cold and raining. The weather reports throught the week had no change for the next couple of days. However, that was not the case. Saturday was cool and clear AND race morning almost prefect. Sunny skies and cool but comfortable. It was one of the best swim starts I have seen and the swim finish was the same. Sad to say, only one preson didn't finish. That is awesume!!!!! The bike course very much a challenge hills all over. then at the bottom of the hill a turn. I talk to one pro triathlete and he said there are 80 turns in the bike course. WOW!!! One truly nice thing about the race was the fans. They got on a bus the be taken to parts of the bike course. So the fans where all of the the place. All race day the weather did not change. The run was lined up with people for at least the first 2 miles.
As races go I would do this one.

IRONMAN LOUISVILLE AUGUST 31, 2008

Ironman Louisville, started kind of slow the first part of the week. Just trying to get my direction and the lay out of the event and the city of Louisville KY. As the week progressed I found myself liking the venue. The city was laid out wonderfully. All of the motels are close to each other and about a mile from the transition. Race day started beautifully with the sun raise and the race was on. Into the Ohio River boy what a thought. All good!! As the athletes exited the water pro first of course the tempature was raising not just in the weather but the race. The bike course, from every direction had beautiful sites. Horses on one side nice fields, farm houses,
rolling hills. Very much a challenge. As they took off on the run all the athlete look good smiles and thumbs up. While as the day went on though the second lap, no more smiles. It was hot.
I think the race would be somewhere I would go back to some day...

The Summer

Do you think the summer went to fast enough... To catch you up on the last couple of months, the trip to Idaho for Ironman CDA was alot of fun. The three pro triathlete I worked on all placed in the top TEN. The Course, was very challenging. The swim, the water was 59 degrees but, was doable. Only about a dozen didn't finish the swim.
The bike course, very hilly but, beautiful. 112 miles of the best northern Idaho. What a deal.
The run, had some hills but, not to bad. The finish line was the best 1/2 mile of people cheering you on. For that matter, the whole course eas filled with people cheering. Thats why i will be doing Ironman CDA next year.
This trip: Off to New Hampshire, Timberman 70.3. A Beautiful race. Lake swim was awesume, the water was fresh and clear perfect temp with a wetsuite. Bike course hilly mile 10 the big hill.
The first 10 miles and the last 10 miles have the hills. The run was along the lake ups and down but not to bad. The finish line even after 7+ hours the cheering crouds still out cheering.
The next trip Ironman Louisville and Ironman Wisconsin.

USAT Coaching Clinic

WOW!!! What a weekend... First the training in St Louis Mo and eastern Missouri was incredible. Plenty of hill work and beautiful senery. The clinic: Three days of (for the most part) great info. I've changed my thoughts on the swim and the run. I worked with a swim coach by the name of "Hap". He helped me change my whole swim technique and thought process. Bobby McGee was the guy lectured on the run. As my thoughts of running are, they have changed after listening to Bobby.

Year to DATE

Well, it's been a GREAT year so far... First we where in Tempe AZ for the Ironman. The Weather for the race was very hot and there was some wind around. That made it difficult for some of the athletes. Out of about 2300 athlete just under 600 DNF. However, I would still reccommand this race to anyone who wants to do there first Ironman. Just be aware of the weather and adjust your nutrition accordingly. Heather Gollnick had a PR and was 3rd over all in the pro womans race. We also had 5 athletes who qualified for KONA. Great Job!!!
Next, St Anthony's Triathlon, St Petersburg Fl. Always a GREAT event. The Center was bizy.
The weather was perfect as it seems to be every year. Hot on the run course but the times still fast. We made some new friends from around the state and the country. Had alot of fun.
The same day we got a Boston Marathoner who qualified at the Louisville Marathon.
Dr Juli Goldsten.. Way to go Juli!!!!!!! We just got back from the Florida 70.3 race that was hold this weekend in Orlando Fl. not much changed there. Ran into some old event clients who got qualified for the 70.3 World Championship in November. Great job there too.
We are off to St Louis Mo in two weeks for USAT coaches clinic. Soon I will be a
TRIATHLON COACH. Very excited about that.... I hope some of you use this service too.

Getting Ready for Ironman Arizona

Well, 2 weeks from this past Sunday Ironman Arizona will be here. I have great feeling about it.
So this weekend I took a mini vacation in Vero Beach. I have 2 GREAT/INCREDIBLE friends there. We did some training, had some good food and conversation. Took some pictures( I'll let you see some soon). On the training day Saturday Dr. Juli had to do a 21 mile run she is a marathon runner and road with her as support. You want to talk about inspartional. Believe it or not it was one of the most moving thing I have seen I person as far as training goes. I trained for Ironmans and other things and I have worked with poeple who have trained like that but to see how things go in person from an outsider it was for me a bit emotional. Sunday was a laid back sit around kinda day. So now I'm back to work getting everything lined upn for next week.

MIT- Miami International Triathlon

WOW!!! What a weekend. Lot of action going on in Miami. Fast cars, tall buildings and gorgous sunrises. Especially race morning. The race started with the pro's more or less in the dark. As the age groupers started the sun came up over the tree line on one side and downtown Miami lites on the other. Great views!!! The day was perfect. Some ocean breezes and alot of sun, not to HOT. A good turn out of pro athletes. Why not $30,000 on the line so early in the season.
The Ironedge Tri Team member who came to race all did very well. Great Job Guys.
The next step for "The Center 4" is Ironman Arizona in April, it should be alot of fun. looking forward to share it with you.
